The research behind Wrong Planet / Right Mind
The memoir supplies the primary evidence for Retrospective Narrative Reindexing (RNR), a three-phase model of autobiographical reorganisation after late autism diagnosis, deposited as a preprint on Zenodo. The book records the moment a lifetime of events changes category, the revision of the causal chains that connected them, and the slow integration of the diagnosis into identity. The model derives from a single autoethnographic case and awaits external validation. The memoir presents the experience, and the preprint formalises its structure.
Essays
Essays on culture and autistic experience appear on Medium, written for readers outside the academy. I founded and edit two publications there: The Other Mind, on autism, cognition and identity, and Materia, on the philosophy of consciousness.
Next book
The Code Constant (Fixed Point Press), scheduled for 1 December 2026. The book argues that reality carries an invariant structure, which myth, religion and civilisation express in the same form across cultures. Sixteen chapters trace that structure through Milius's Conan the Barbarian, Lynch, Oshii, Popper, Hayek, Eco, Baudrillard and Jünger.
Fields of work
Essays: Each essay takes one subject from culture and works through it with the tools of autistic cognition: systematic logic, pattern recognition, literal reading and close attention to detail. The subjects range across psychology, spirituality, science and the philosophy of science, literature, film and popular culture, and music. The method stays constant.
Research: A narrower field, developed as preprints: autistic cognition, autobiographical memory after late diagnosis, masking and communication, consciousness and interoception.
Commissions
I write books and essays on commission across this cultural range. The subject of each work remains mine to define. A publisher or editor brings a venue, a length and a deadline, and we agree an angle that grows from my experience and my reading. Two books, one published and one forthcoming, document sustained work at book length.
